Frankfinn Suggests key Points to be Well Prepared for a VIVA

Frankfinn

The word Viva comes from ‘Viva Voce,’ a Latin phrase literally meaning “with living voice” but most often translated as “by word of mouth.” It also refers to Italian for “live voice”. Viva is an oral examination of a subject, especially in reference to a thesis defense in academia. In simple terms, Viva is nothing but participating in an academic research with your fellow students or educators, sometimes individually and the other times with a group.
Now when we talk about a Viva that you are marked against just before your board exams or otherwise for any examination, which would be added up in your subjects; you tend to become a little less confident and start pressurizing yourself of the outcomes of the viva. When in for a viva, you need to be self aware, know what you are saying and keep calm. You can use the following tips to be prepared for your viva at any stage of your life:

A. A viva is another means of the educator to make sure that you know the subject well and own it. It is one of the nicer ways to make sure that you own the subject and do not just pass your exams well by rote learning.

B. One thing you need to know about a viva is that, ‘done is done, cannot be undone’; you cannot cancel your previous attempt and re-write your answers, so, be careful of what you say, and to do that, you need to have an assembled knowledge base. It may be helpful to remember facts in a way that makes them easily retrieved and communicated in a viva. An intelligent, structured, cogent answer wins the points.

C. When you are attempting a viva in lower levels of education, you might know your examiner because she might be one of the school subject experts; however, you need to be well prepared in any case. Questions from anywhere related to your subject, corresponding to your class level might pop-up. But, if you are attempting a viva in higher levels of education, you may want to remember that there is bound to be an external examiner and you cannot ‘assume’ that they will ask you something and not other things because they know you are of a certain education background/ level or that your topic is not relevant to that they ask. So, it is best to have in-depth knowledge of the subject of the viva. Please note that if it is a fact you are not sure about, immediately accept it before the examiner points out. And if it is an outcome and its procedure that you are in anyway confused about, either appear confident and say something convincingly, or accept your ignorance.

D. If it is a viva based on a particular project or experiment, make sure that you know direct and crisp answers to questions like:
i. What have you done
ii. Why have you done it
iii. How did you do it
iv. What have you found
v. What are the implications
vi. What were the major difficulties you faced while doing it
vii. What better or different could have you done
viii. Is there anything in your result/method different from others, etc

E. What your viva outcomes will be, are also dependent on how you conduct yourself in there.
i. This would mean that you should conduct yourself in a manner that appears friendly, not anxious but calm, your posture should be confident and you must appear to be prepared and not afraid of any questions that might pop-up.
ii. Sitting up-straight and being crisply dressed also do the trick for a good first impression and beginning.
iii. Keep a constant eye contact with the examiner.
iv. Try not to fumble.
v. Before the examiner does it, conclude your viva and bid farewell so that you do not seem desperate for some more time to mend what might have gone wrong.

Frankfinn Cases of Best Interview Sessions- How to Introduce Yourself in an Interview

e17482702860c2c7a37ab300249729ad

frankfinn-fly-high7

The most commonly asked question, the ice-breaker at any interview is; ‘tell me/us something about yourself’. The most common belief about this question is that one could take it lightly and get away with, by saying sometimes rather irrelevant things. As they say, first impression is the last impression, we must keep in mind that what we begin our interview with, is going to decide the direction of the rest of the interview. Here frankfinn institute is giving the secret behind answering this question to make an impact, a positive one at that.

Start by talking about your educational background in detail.
Followed by your ideologies, value system and belief. Make a strong statement and make the interviewer believe in what you are saying.
Back your ideologies/beliefs/value system with a quote or famous statement to set a tone for your interview.
Talk about your core competencies and key skills, highlighting the ones in relation to the current job so that the interviewer does not have to wait to get to this point and he knows that you have a structured way of thinking.
Following this, mention your strengths, highlighting them separately, to hold your interviewer’s attention and he starts considering your candidature immediately.
To give the conversation a momentum, swiftly shift to mentioning your expertise and your work profile, quoting a few examples of specific work/projects, especially in line with the current profile help you to gain more points.
Then mention any other technical expertise you hold or you have acquired with the help of on the job learning or workshops, other than the ones you have already mentioned.
DO keep in mind that you should never directly mention that you are here for this particular job because….
Apart from all the formal talk, you can also mention your interests, hobbies, languages known, etc because that complete a part of who you are; do not wait for the interviewer to ask you that.
END your introduction with ‘ Sir/Ma’am these are all the important things, I can think of, you should know about me. Is there anything else in specific you would like to know about me?

Frankfinn Institute Booked Sessions For Effective Public Presentations

A presentation is an art of delivering knowledge and information to an audience who might or might not be interested in it. In order to do so, you can take help of the following tips:

frankfinn institute booked, frankfinn cases, frankfinn reviews, frankfinn feedbacks, comments on frankfinn1. What message you want to convey to your audience : Irrespective of the audience you are about to address, like a sales pitch or a mock presentation for an interview or at school, or even at a much more public level where media etc is present, you must be sure of what message do you want to convey to your audience. This should not be misunderstood by the topic or issue you are presenting. The message you want to give to the audience should be clear in your head so that it is taken as it is by the audience.
2. Research: While you have time, research your topic very well because that helps you shape up your presentation in a more coherent manner that all scattered. Also, when you are presenting to an audience, there are bound to be members from the audience who know one fact better or more than you mentioned in your presentation; this detailing while; you have the time will help you save any embarrassment.
3. Presence: The word presentation contains the word ‘present’, which implies that when you are present at that place, you need to leave a mark and you need to make your presence felt. And you can only do that if you are confident, sure of yourself, mind your language, expression and body tone. It is just not just what you say, how you say it is equally important.
4. You speak your mind and heart: When we say that you should choose a topic, be sure of what you want to speak, it is not only important to be ready with apt data and content, but make sure you make up your mind about it. When you are up, presenting something to an audience, they should feel that everything you say is what you feel and you are not just reading out form the presentation or handouts.
5. Mode: When you make a presentation, it is very important to choose the right means and mode of your presentation carefully and intelligently. Using the right method to say what you want to is possible when you know your audience, so make sure you know who you are catering to. Using real case studies and stories to give out data is a smart choice.
6. Summarize: Even when you are presenting numbers and statistics to your audience, make sure that they do not feel loaded or bored with the heavy data. You can do so, by summarizing your points with a message or story yourself, or ask a few members of the audience to summarize one point each so that they feel alive and attentive.
